Frequently Asked Questions

If you don’t see the answer to your questions, please call. (604)698-6989

+ WHAT SHOULD I BRING TO WEAR?

I would suggest at least 5 different looks with a range of colors and necklines, staying away from bright colors and prints as they are distracting to the eye. #1 rule is that you love it. If you don’t feel comfortable in it, you won’t shoot well while wearing it. Keep the jewellery to a minimum. Studs or small earrings work, anything else will draw too much attention.

+ WHAT ABOUT HAIR AND MAKEUP?

*Both women and men should moisturize their lips. Dry, chapped lips cannot be retouched well. Start moisturizing a few days before your photo session.

Women I strongly suggest you hire a professional to do your hair and make-up. While this is an extra cost, it will enhance your look and allow you to concentrate on the shoot. If you prefer to do your own make-up, keep it natural. It is easier to apply more make-up than take it off. I'm a certified makeup artist and can apply your makeup specifically tailored to photography, this is an extra charge and is listed on my pricing page.
Style your hair as if you’re going for an audition or an important meeting. You want your hair in your pictures to be as close as possible to the way you look on a fantastic hair day.

Men

You’ll be happy to know I don’t recommend makeup for men. If possible, don't get your hair cut right before the session, you don't want the fresh scalped look. Wait a few weeks after a cut to let it grow in a bit.

+ WILL YOU COME TO OUR LOCATION?

Yes, please contact me for a quote.

+ DO I GET A PRINTED PHOTO OR DIGITAL IMAGE?

The images we provide are 2480 pixel (long edge) at 72 dpi. If you would like your images printed there is a variety of products to choose from.

+ HOW LONG BEFORE I GET MY IMAGES?

We will email your final retouched images within 10 days.

+ WILL YOU RETOUCH MY IMAGES?

Blemishes will be removed along with wrinkle softening. It's essential to keep the retouching to a minimum in order to presurve a natural look. If you have any areas of concern, please bring them up at your headshot session.

+ I'M NOT A MODEL, HOW SHOULD I POSE?

Most of us have a “go to” smile we pull out when someone points a camera in our direction. I’m going to guide you through the session with direction and view the photos as we go, to make sure we are getting exactly what you’re looking for in a headshot. The camera is connected to my computer and by shooting/previewing in this manner, we can adjust the focus during the session to account for anything we might have missed. We will inspect each shot one by one with you to determine your favourites before you leave.

+ WHAT FORM OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We offer multiple ways to pay for your professional headshot session. I accept cash, credit cards and direct deposit. Payment must be received in full before images are released.

On-Location Headshots

Many companies are adding photos of their employees to their websites to give a friendly face to their company. It’s important to have a uniform look in order to promote professional continuity. This doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t capture each team member’s individuality. A skilled photographer will know how to highlight each team member’s unique character without sacrificing the overall flow of the group. With on-location headshots we come to your office so your employees don’t have to travel and there is less disruption to your business day.

Actor Headshots

If you are serious about acting, a headshot is absolutely required when looking for work as an actor. Actor headshots are distributed to promote yourself and are one of the most important and effective tools. Your headshot is your first audition, of sorts. It gives a good outline of your personality, looks, features and type. This helps casting directors and talent agents to conclude whether you might be right for a certain part.

Personal Branding

Everyone has a brand, but some are more skilled at realizing its potential than others. What is a personal brand? It is a reflection of our character, skills, talents and passions in life and how they are perceived by those around us. If you’re being recommended for a job, get a new client through a referral, or are invited to speak at an event, that’s a result of your brand. Someone has formed a positive mental image of you and is letting that image guide their decisions. Great-looking photography will give your personal brand another layer of trust and appeal.
